@Pucko,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s clear you care about Kopaonik, as do I — my critique comes from a place of love and a desire to see it improve, not from unrealistic expectations or comparisons with the Alps.

That said, appeals to Kopaonik being ā€œthe best in Serbiaā€ or ā€œthe best in the Balkansā€ — while probably true — don’t really address the issues I''ve raised. The point isn’t whether it’s better than other regional resorts, but whether it’s living up to its own potential, and whether the people who visit regularly are getting the quality and safety they deserve.

That said, some of the issues I raised aren’t about luxury or "wanting Switzerland in Serbia" — they’re about basic functionality and safety:

* Toilets: Yes, cafĆ©s often have restrooms, but those are for paying customers — not open public toilets. A world-class resort can’t rely on restaurants to provide basic sanitation for thousands of daily skiers.

* Lockers: There’s still a major lack of organized, affordable gear storage, which is a very real issue for day visitors and families.

* Queue management: Long lines are expected at peak times, but the complete lack of order or control — especially at key lifts — is something that can and should be fixed with minimal cost.

* Lack of ski patrol: This isn’t about comparing slope length to the Alps. It’s about safety on the mountain. Beginners and families should feel safe on green and blue slopes without being run over by reckless skiers.

* Summer tourism: While winter gets some attention, summer remains massively underdeveloped — with poor trail signage, minimal maintenance, and no clear strategy for non-winter visitors.

* Overdevelopment: There’s a difference between growth and chaos. Much of the new construction lacks planning, architectural integrity, or environmental responsibility.

Yes, ski passes may still be cheaper than in Switzerland — but so is the average income in Serbia. Value isn’t about absolute price, it’s about what you get for what you pay. And right now, that balance is tipping in the wrong direction.

None of this means Kopaonik isn’t beautiful or enjoyable. I love skiing there. I come back every year. But if people who care don’t speak up, things won’t improve. Criticism isn’t disloyalty — it’s an act of care.

We don’t want Kopaonik to be just ā€œthe best by default.ā€ We want it to be great on purpose.
